Showstoppers of Lakme Fashion Week SS/18

Posted on

After witnessing the five power-packed days at Lakmé Fashion Week S/R 2018, we know one thing for certain; prints, pastels and panache are the trends this season. With every season, all designers up their runway game a notch. We bring you ur favourite show stoppers from the fashion week.

Shahid & Mira Kapoor for Anita Dongre

Anita Dongre’s Lakmé Fashion Week collection, ‘Songs of Summer’ represents the magical summer wedding with a palette of pistachios, baby blues, whites, pale pinks and yellows. We loved the delicate embroidery, sheer dupattas and floral motif detailing we saw on most of the bridal outfits. The dreamy couple of B-Town closed the show with that cute-esque almost-perfect twirl.

Taapsee for Ritu Kumar

Ritu Kumar’s collection was all things nostalgic vibes. Long sheer maxi dresses were aplenty, and so were sequinned jackets, tops and dresses. Taapsee was full of energy on the ramp as she closed the show for Ritu Kumar in a shimmery, edgy number. And we’re now convinced that thigh high slits aren’t going anywhere.

The second day of Lakmé Fashion Week has forever been dedicated to the cause of conscious and ethical practices in fashion. It witnessed designers like Aratik Dev Varman and Kuzu. Indian footballer Bhaichung Bhutia walked for Kuzu accompanied by the Tetseo Sisters, a folk music band from Nagaland, performed at the closing. The designer duo showcased style that stood for comfort layering paired with beautiful textures.

Kalki Koechlin for Amoh by Jade

We have seen Monica and Karishma wave their magic wands by adding a personal touch to each of their collections and they surely didn’t miss a beat this time either. Kalki Koechlin walked the ramp wearing a beautiful off-white silhouette bardot-sleeved lehenga with plain glossy top and an embroidered silhouette lehenga skirt from Jade’s latest collection ‘Amoh’.

Karan Johar and Sonakshi Sinha for Falguni and Shane Peacock

Known for their extravagant feathers and flowy bottoms, this duo took a new road this time around. Actor Sonakshi Sinha opened the show for the power couple wearing black embroidered jacket with fluid pants and a bralet, while filmmaker Karan Johar, sporting a new, striking all-gray look, closed it.

Saif Ali Khan for Shantanu & Nikhil

Designer duo Shantanu & Nikhil’s collection ‘Tribe—The India Story’ drew from the sartorial landscape of the streets of Rajasthan. The Nawaab of Bollywood kept it classy in black as he closed the Shantanu and Nikhil show on Day 4 of Lakmé Fashion Week.

Aditi Rao Hydari for Payal Singhal

Aditi Rao Hydari, the real life princess, looked nothing short of a princess as she walked the runway for Payal Singhal’s S|R collection, Saira. The designer showcased wedding and occasion wear in a modern light that was inspired by the influences of Islamic culture on art, architecture and beyond.

Sania Mirza for Anushree Reddy

Sania donned an elaborate pink sheer lehenga with silver embellishments and a criss-cross baby pink blouse. Her collection had pretty colors, dainty embroideries and floral prints, used in sheer sarees, bridal lehengas and also makes for a stunning bridesmaid outfit.

Grand Finale – Kareena Kapoor for Anamika Khanna:

There wouldn’t have been anyone better than the OG fashionista Kareena Kapoor to close Lakmé Fashion Week. She showed up in a smokcain’ black number by designer Anamika Khanna and left everyone speechless! Literally, speechless.
